Custom Design
Space Craft stands by their reputation of producing custom trailers of superior quality. Space Craft’s chassis range from 40 to 57 feet long and are manufactured in-house, featuring welded steel frames with tandem air ride axles and 22.5″ truck tires to allow repairs at any tire shop. Laminate sheeted aluminum-framed walls with 1.5” polystyrene insulation are standard features as is full body basement storage which is heated, carpeted and illuminated.
Customers have access to an assortment of floorplans and interior designs tailored specifically to their preferences. Standard equipment includes a 10 kW generator, 50 Amp electrical service and 220 Ah battery; kitchen appliances are residential-grade while there are two forced air furnaces as well as dual 15,000 Btu air conditioning units installed for added comfort.
At the Florida RV SuperShow, a 54-foot model being fabricated for full-time traveling couple is being displayed. They plan to use a Mack Anthem class 8 semi modified by Hall Fabrication of Auburndale, Fla. as their tow vehicle; equipped with one of Volta’s largest lithium ion systems ever installed on a towable, it has enough water and electricity for off-grid living for weeks at a time and features a convertible bedroom/garage with enough room to transport their Volvo XC40 electric vehicle while on their travels.
Custom Build
Space Craft takes a refreshingly different approach to trailer design and building than many other RV manufacturers. Instead of offering predetermined floorplans with luxurious furnishings, Space Craft lets buyers customize whatever design features they’d like – within reason of course!
At their west-central Missouri headquarters, Space Craft’s staff conducts interviews with potential customers and discusses all options to create a trailer that best meets their road rambling lifestyle – this process can last anywhere from three months to an entire year!
Buyers can browse a catalog of finishes and materials to select colors, appliances, cabinetry wood (birch, maple, walnut and cherry are among their options), stain colors and more from Space Craft’s wide selection. Distance customers may even order some selections by mail if Missouri is too far away for them. Space Craft builds trailers from 40′ to 57′ long using laminated aluminum-framed sidewalls with 1.5″ polystyrene insulation as well as tandem air ride axles equipped with 22.5″ truck tires to accommodate local garages in all its products.
Off-Grid Electricity
“Going off grid” involves no longer depending on a power grid for electricity needs. This gives you independence from rising energy costs and power outages while simultaneously decreasing carbon footprints.
Solar energy is a core part of this infrastructure. It generates most of the power, with some stored in batteries for nighttime use. Lithium batteries used to be relatively expensive but now long-lived lithium batteries can be found at much more competitive costs and have extended lifespans.
Airstream introduced rooftop-mounted solar power systems for their luxury travel trailers in 2024. These solar arrays utilize 600W panels to harvest sunlight for battery charging, and pair it with a 3000-Watt inverter to maximize off-grid capability and invert all electrical outlets within the camper for maximum power flexibility and off-grid stays. Full-Body Basement Storage
Space Craft trailers allow you to tailor them exactly how you need it, including adding full-body basement storage solutions for all of your gear. This 39-foot five-slide model provides 45 gallons of gray and black water capacity; has a 31,000 Btu furnace; two 15,000 Btu air conditioners; holds washer and dryer sets, barbecue grill, bikes, recreational gear as well as extra batteries and solar-power components – it even holds washers!
With painted drywall instead of wallboard and an extra bathroom up front, this trailer was made for travel. Even its underbelly is clean and uncluttered; no dangling parts or corrugated plastic sheeting clutter up its lines.
Konitzers’ Space Craft cost about $200,000.
