Cartoonists have long been fascinated with space exploration. Cartoonists even contributed significantly to NASA’s Apollo moon missions by drawing amusing cartoons on astronaut cuff checklists for NASA astronauts participating in them.
Caramella, Etno Polino, Bud Budiovitch and Gorgious Klatoo from planet Zigma B are currently hiding out in an isolated home for fear of being discovered and captured by humans if their true identities become known to humans.
Etno
Etno spends most of his time trying to return home planet Zigma B, spending hours conducting experiments, inventing rockets and trying to return. But somehow in every episode something comes up that stops him and his alien friends from leaving space again.
An eccentric collector moves into their house and might possess their original spaceship, prompting aliens to discover more about him; unfortunately he turns out to be quite the tormentor.
Madame Zelza moves into the house and tricks the aliens into believing a superstition. They also meet a space taxi driver, however the vehicle only holds three passengers so one of them must remain behind.
Bud
Bud is an intelligent but good-natured pup who forms an enormous bond with Etno. At times he can become restless during his rebellious teenage phase, acting out even when not provoked directly.
As the brains of their group, he often creates machines to assist them in getting home. Unfortunately, these creations sometimes malfunction or someone else uses them without permission.
Common themes involve the arrival of an unexpected tenant to their house, whether or not for their own benefit; such as when “Arctic Intelligence” introduced them to an alien wearing an artificial intelligence suit, or when Rip Van Etno moved in alongside Stereo to bring destruction upon the planet (“Rip Van Etno”).
Oggy and the Cockroaches watch TV too, in an episode which parodies Warner Bros’ Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner). Even their theme song includes an excerpt of this. Furthermore, Madame Zelza frequently visits and curses Candy’s vacuum cleaner while making Gorgious obsessed with TV watching even worse than before!
Gorgious
Gorgious, the mischievous character from this cartoon, doesn’t intend to hurt anyone but he just can’t understand why his planet Zatura friends seem intent on wrecking everything they touch. The short-lived series stands as an iconic example of 1980s animation which now enjoys widespread appreciation.
Space enthusiasts and children alike love this classic cartoon series. Korvo and Yumulack, the “father” and “son”, view humans as stupid; capitalism as evil; Jesse loves junk food — however they remain genuine people with an interest in seeing how things really are.
This classic hand-drawn animation flick is one of the last great cartoons, and is truly remarkable. Following a boy and his giant alien friend as they encounter friendship and understanding one another is truly captivating, available both on Netflix and Amazon streaming services. Stereo audio reproduction uses two channels to give an illusion of sound emanating from different points in space, originally developed during the 1930s and becoming popular as home stereos became affordable options. Stereo has also come to be used as a descriptive term for genres played using this format; for instance, dance music often utilizes stereo effects.
