Mars – Planet God in Hinduism
Mars is one of the nine planets in astrology and commonly known by its Hindu name of Mangala. This planet rules Aries zodiac sign and symbolises courage & confidence.
Hindu mythology associates Mars with Kartikeya, the warrior god. He was formed from six sparks that fell from Shiva’s eyes into a lake and were nurtured by goddesses associated with the lunar constellation Kritika or Pleiades.
Mangala
Mars, commonly referred to in Sanskrit as Mangala, is one of the nine planets found within Hindu astrology and represents physical energy and drive. Additionally, this fiery planet acts as an indicator of heroism and military endeavors, ruling Mesha (Aries) and Vrishchika (Scorpio). Additionally, Makara (Capricorn) exalts Mars while Kanaka (Cancer) falls beneath it. Mars can often cause aggression or conflict while simultaneously learning quickly, enjoying new challenges while remaining fiercely independent in terms of protecting its territory or freedom from other planets. Vedic astrology associates Mars with brothers and sisters while being an indicator of heroism or military endeavours.

Kartikeya

A warrior god and often depicted with weapons such as mace, spear, or sword; Kartikeya is revered across India with festivals dedicated to him including Kanda Sashti in October/November and Skanda Sashti during Kartika Vratam festival celebrations in Tamil Nadu – just to name a few!
Hindu mythology tells of Lord Kartikeya as being born of a prophecy that said the gods would be terrorized by an evil demon who could only be defeated by their son Shiva and Parvati’s son Kartikeya – an embodiment of courage, strength, and victory who inspires devotees to overcome any obstacles they might face in life and ultimately achieve greatness. Shown riding a peacock while wielding spear or vel in combat mode he serves as protector of children spouses or siblings alike while acting as protector for children spouses or siblings as well. Kartikeya represents courage strength victory and victory which helps inspire his devotees overcome obstacles and achieve success throughout their lives.
Kartikeya was named after six water nymphs who represented the Pleiades or Krittikas who took care in caring for and raising him as their divine child – Kartikeya!
This god is seen as the protector of children and spouses, representing strength against danger or aggression. Additionally, he represents passion, adventure, physical strength and primitive tendencies – qualities associated with his presence as King of the Gods with immense power and authority over other deities. Additionally, it bestows powers or abilities upon yogis in accordance to their spiritual development – thus being depicted with six heads to symbolize these powers or abilities that he bestows.
Individuals with strong Mars influence in their 2nd, 6th and 10th houses tend to work in defence-related fields such as military or police; or deal with corals, rubies or red articles. Furthermore, these people often become involved in disputes and disagreements within politics.
Bhauma
Hindu mythology regards Mangala or Mars as one of the most masculine planets. It largely influences masculine characteristics like strength, courage and aggression while simultaneously encouraging valor and confidence in men. Mangala (Mars) is depicted as an image of strength when depicted riding an animal such as a bull ram and is sometimes thought of as Lord Shiva himself in human form.
Mangala (Mars) is also known by other names such as Bhauma, Angaraka or Kuja in astrology. As the fourth planet from the Sun, Mars is considered fiery and male energy planet that reigns supreme over Aries and Scorpio as well as stars Mrigashira Chitra Dhanishtha and others. Puranas reveal that Mars, as depicted by Varaha (Earth), is the son of Bhumi (Earth) and Lord Vishnu. However, due to being kidnapped by Hiranyaksha demon, its place was caged until Varaha came as Earth Goddess Prithvi Devi was summoned as Varaha to free the planet.
As Bhauma matured, he performed penance at Kashi to appease Lord Shiva and seek his blessings. Shiva was pleased by this dedication and bestowed him a superior residence: Mangala loka – where Venus resided – than Shukra Loka where Bhauma resided with Venus.
Personally, Mars influences often show themselves through our ego and ambitions. It can also cause short temper and impulsiveness but can bring good logic as well as strong desire for success and can give rise to competitive personalities and potentially cause friction within relationships. Angaraka
